Initiation —— In December 2014, during the visit of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to China, witnessed by the leaders of both countries, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China and the Ministry of Scientific Research of Egypt jointly signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Joint Construction of the China-Egypt Renewable Energy Joint Laboratory, clarifying that both sides would initiate the construction of the National Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy.


Signing Ceremony —— On August 21, 2015 (Beijing time), the preparatory signing ceremony of the "China-Egypt National Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy" was held in Beijing. This marked the first step in implementing the Memorandum of Understanding signed by China and Egypt, and it launched a new starting point for the in-depth cooperation between China and Egypt in the field of science and technology.


Inauguration —— On March 27, 2016 (Cairo time), at the Egyptian Prime Minister's Office, Vice Premier Liu Yandong of the State Council of China and Prime Minister Sherif Ismail of Egypt inaugurated the "China-Egypt National Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy" jointly built by the 48th Research Institute of CETC and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology of Egypt.


Recognition —— On June 4, 2019, the China-Egypt Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy was included in the first batch of recognized construction projects by the Ministry of Science and Technology (14 in total).


Completion —— On September 9, 2019 (Cairo time), the governor of Sohag Province of Egypt, the Egyptian Minister of Education, the Egyptian Minister of Military Industry, the counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, the leaders of the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, and the leaders of the CETC Equipment Subgroup jointly attended the completion ceremony of the joint laboratory.
