1.Overall Positioning

The China-Egypt Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy was included in the first batch of recognized construction projects by the Ministry of Science and Technology (Document No. Guo Ke Fa Jiao [2019] 186). Following the principles of "joint construction and sharing, demand orientation, capacity building, and demonstration leadership," the laboratory efficiently configures and integrates regional renewable energy science and technology innovation resources. It accelerates the export of renewable energy technologies through technology development, demonstration and promotion, training, service, and joint research and development. It aims to drive renewable energy science and technology innovation in the North African region, expand China's influence in African and Middle Eastern countries along the Belt and Road, and enhance the international influence of China's scientific and technological "soft power."

2.Research Directions
The research directions of the Belt and Road Joint Laboratory on Renewable Energy are as follows:
a) Research on high-power and high-reliability photovoltaic module manufacturing technology;
b) Design of photovoltaic module adaptability technology for various terrains and climates;

c) Research on efficiency optimization and grid connection technology for large-scale photovoltaic power plants.

3.Development Goals

The development goals of the joint laboratory are to combine China's overall planning strategy for the new energy field in the Belt and Road policy. Through technology demonstration and promotion, training, service, and joint research and development of the joint laboratory construction project, it actively develops the export of new energy technologies, enhances the radiating influence on regional scientific and technological development, and lays out the construction of a regional international science and technology cooperation base facing Egypt and surrounding North African countries. It actively promotes the construction of the joint laboratory to form an international science and technology cooperation platform that gathers innovative elements.

4. Research Achievements
In recent years, the joint laboratory has published 2 SCI papers, 1 paper in a foreign core journal, and 15 papers in domestic core journals through product development and technology research. It has been granted more than 81 invention patents, registered 11 software copyrights, obtained 12 international certifications for photovoltaic products, and released 4 SEMI standards, 4 industry standards, 4 group standards, and 1 local standard.
The plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) tubular equipment developed by the joint laboratory was successfully included in the fourth batch of single-champion products in Hunan Province's manufacturing industry. The cooperative project "Key Technologies and Applications of Ultra-Precision and High-Efficiency Cutting, Grinding, and Polishing Equipment for Pan-Semiconductor Substrates" won the first prize for technological invention in the 2024 Mechanical Industry Science and Technology Awards. The two achievements, the RSP-8000 type ultra-large capacity double-sided heterojunction TCO magnetron sputtering coating equipment and its application, and the development and application of high-capacity high-temperature low-pressure boron diffusion equipment, passed the tests conducted by the Hunan Province Electronics Information Industry Research Institute and the China National Accreditation Service (Hunan) Laboratory. The test results were qualified and recognized as scientific and technological achievements by the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology.
